Using machinery during the spring of 2025

During 2024, we were only able to clear a short way into the wetlands to the east of the pond before the nesting period started. We had been using a winch to pull the water rake when working in the water, but we realised this was taking a long time to do the work and not all volunteers were available each week when we had planned to work on the project. 

We decided to bring in machinery to speed up clearing the remaining vegetation from the wetlands, but we had to wait until weather conditions were suitable and the ground was hard enough to support the machinery. 2 diggers were used, one to hold the second digger back and support it when working in the water.
