Finglassie

East and West Finglassie refer to an industrial estate on the southern edge of Glenrothes, and more recently, the Finglassie housing estate was developed on the site. The Finglassie precinct is located west of Stenton.

The name is thought to have originated from Fionn-ghlias (white or holy burn), and there are two burns in the area, one white or fairly clear and the other coloured red due to underlying iron ore. Old maps show the two burns meeting northwest of the East Finglassie farmsteading; the burn then flows into the Lochty Burn.

Finglassie is also the name for a peated spirit produced by the InchDairnie distillery. It is known for its balance of peat smoke with notes of sweet bonfire, oil and citrus fruit. A six-year-old Finglassie whisky was released in 2023 with 252 bottles bottled at cask strength.
